While it is of vital importance that those battling drug addiction receive appropriate care and treatment and we stand fully behind plans to fight the ongoing opioid epidemic, New Haven Republicans stand against the location of drug treatment facilities in residential neighborhoods, near schools, parks and playgrounds. Let's put the safety of our residents and children first!
Nothing illustrates this more than the 2017 stabbing death of Keith Wylie by Daniel Streit in front of the APT's Foundation location on Congress Ave. and across from John Daniel's School. Young students will needlessly and forever traumatized by what they witnessed while arriving to attend classes at the site. Residents filed numerous complaints about fights, drug paraphernalia, littering and other problems prior and after the stabbing.
